Calling all sneaker heads! January’s end is almost here and releases are no longer rumored but set in stone or come and gone. What shoes do you think are the best of the month so far? Below are some favorites to win the crown for sure. Let us know your thoughts on these or any others that need to be in the conversation.
Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Rabbit”
Release Date: Jan. 21, 2023
Limited to 5,000 pairs, this Air Jordan 1 Low model is an absolute stunner. Jordan Brand definitely embraces the concept of the rabbit and it works so well with the Jordan 1 Low silhouette. Donning a neutral/nude color way with an accent of brown on the upper and textured fur-inspired laces brings a level of originality, without being overzealous, that’s so refreshing.
Nike Dunk Low “Montreal Bagel”
Release Date: Jan. 13, 2023
You can never go wrong with a bagel and gum outsoles. Well not necessarily together, but the team at Nike decided that didn’t matter with this Montreal-style Bagel inspired dunk. Featuring a sesame seed printed upper with shades of tan overlays are nicely accented by the Montreal-Blue swoosh. If you got your hands on these, then it’s safe to say you can laugh at people recreating the spider-man meme wearing “Pandas” (which is getting another restock this month as well). This might be a 2023 must-cop for dunk lovers.
Bricks & Wood x New Balance 9060
Release Date: Jan. 20, 2023
This is the second installment of Bricks and Wood’s collaboration with New Balance. Coming in the form of an ode to the co-founder’s South Central Los Angeles home with the tagline “Nothing Changed but the Address”. New Balance sports this model with an eye-popping green accent on the ABZORB outsole resembling a grass lawn. Similar to the Air Jordan 1 Low “Year of the Rabbit”, a theme is arising early in 2023 with custom fuzzy laces. The cherry on top, reflective spacer mesh upper with premium hairy suede overlays compliment this shoe so well.
Nike LeBron 7 “FAMU” Gorge Green
Release Date: Jan. 7, 2023
Paying homage to the HBCU Florida A&M, this LeBron 7 model pops with a forest green mesh and suede upper with accents of orange like no other. Highlighting the school further with its logo on the tongue and mascot on the inner heel are nice touches. As LeBron continues in the ladder-half of his career and releasing newer models, it’s always nice to get a retro model with a fresh touch and this color way overdelivered.
