NBA 2k League Overview

“What You Expect?” is the official home for all things NBA 2kLeague. What is the NBA 2k League? The 2k League is an esports league joint venture between the NBA and Take-Two Interactive, which allows people to play NBA 2k competitively.

The NBA 2k League’s tournaments are covered and streamed on Twitch. The league currently consists of 23 teams and the regular season takes place over 15 weeks (12 weeks for weekly matchups and three weeks of tournaments). All teams play a minimum of 19 games, including 14 regular season games and five tournament games. Players in the 2k league all get drafted by playing the individual positions that they use online. All of these players sign a six-month contract, covering relocation and housing costs. Players drafted in the first round get 35k while the rest of the players get 32k. CASH OUT!

As an African man, I could care less about the NBA 2k League or NBA 2k since I am #TeamFifa, which seems like they are gearing up for something similar. Yet, I was extremely intrigued to cover this league due to a dear friend of mine, Shockey, being a part of it. Just hearing about his experience with the league made me see the growth potential. I was extremely drawn in by the league after another dear friend of mine, King Salomon—whose single PRAY 4 ME IS OUT NOW—performed at a NBA 2k League tournament in Orlando during the second season. I watched the tournament via Twitch and was instantly intrigued by how interesting the league is and how professional it’s run.
